No medal for Canada. The first time since 2001 that a Canadian team finished out of the top 3.
The game was fairly high scoring ending regulation time in a 5 - 5 tie. Russia scored the winning goal at 1:35 of overtime.
Although this was a great, all-stops-out game for both teams, the series overall was a lacklustre performance for the Canadians. I'm not sure if this is an anomaly or if it's indicative of deeper problems in Hockey Canada. Blame it on coaching, poor goalies, bad officiating or whatever, the fact remains there better be some post-battlefield soul searching going on.
